“The abstract mid-century modern design elements in my new collection seem to be floating instead of grounded in their usual organic petal fields suggesting my exploration into depth and movement in my work. These movements are a metaphor to how we can adapt to the changes of the times, and hopefully, my viewers can find a shape in each lightscape to which they can relate.”
Visual artist Jomike Tejido marks the year with his latest solo exhibition, “Scintillate”. Emission of flashes of light is usually temporary in nature, such as the beauty of fireworks in a new year celebration, a pink to the purple-washed sky in a late afternoon, a refracted rainbow after a rain, a majestic aurora, or even a simple twinkling star. It is the momentary nature of these flashes that inspired Jomike to capture these elements in his canvases, providing a sense of permanence, as he renders the feelings that these light shows evoke in the viewer.
