A showcase of mythical creatures that bring fortune and new beginnings to life through sculptures of the lunar zodiac symbols trail-blazes Megs Empinado’s Cycles. These symbols have been reimagined with a futuristic and technological twist, incorporating elements of wormhole punk, a science fiction subgenre that involves the use of wormholes for travel and communication. This innovative approach adds a modern and unique spin to the traditional zodiac symbols, creating a visually striking and thought-provoking exhibit to capture the attention and imagination of viewers.

Cycles delves into the tradition of the lunar zodiac and the cultural significance of the lunar zodiac animals, exploring the natural patterns and cycles that underpin this periodicity. The incorporation of time travel through wormholes in the science fiction universe of Meg’s wormhole punk suggests that time itself is not a linear progression, but rather a cycle that can be accessed or traveled through. This exhibition presents a fresh and intellectually stimulating perspective on the intricate symbolism and cultural importance of the lunar zodiac.

From the changing of the seasons to the motion of the planets, natural patterns and cycles are hypothesized to be at the root of this periodicity. The science fiction universe of Meg’s wormhole punk, with its design and construction inspired by the concept of cyclical time, offers a way to explore and interact with this profundity through the use of wormholes as a means of time travel. The exhibition invites us to consider the enduring mysteries of the natural world and the ways in which we can seek to understand them.
