“Manila in lockdown has meant different things to different people. For me, it meant being stuck at home, and not having much to do. Luckily, my art teacher Maryrose Gisbert and friends from the Saturday Art Group, encouraged me to paint.

And so I painted. I painted each and every day. I forgot time. I was happy that the one-month lockdown became two, three, four, five and now seven months.

Flowers have always had a special attraction for me. They spark happiness. They are gifts from God. Much like people, flowers have a timeline and need love. One minute, a flower is a beautiful bud. Then suddenly it becomes a majestic bloom. And then too soon, it is gone.

References for my paintings have sometimes been from pictures in books or the internet. But for the most part, my paintings come from my imagination. But my drawings and simple paintings never come out quite as I see them in my mind.

Please come and view my first solo online exhibit, entitled “Floral Legacy” through Quattro Uno Art Innovate Creatives.

It is a simple way to share my love of flowers with others.”
