336-sqm Gallery for Philippine Contemporary Art Opens in Festival Supermall, Alabang
A fresh start welcomes art enthusiasts and collectors as a new 336-sqm gallery Ides Contemporary Art (ICA), opens on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Located on the upper ground floor (UGF) of the recently completed Festival Supermall Expansion Wing in Filinvest City Alabang, Muntinlupa, ICA features a diverse selection of recent works by emerging, established, and veteran artists.
Envisioned as the latest platform in Metro Manila for artists to showcase their talents, Ides Contemporary Art makes art accessible through its open plan and accommodating mall setting. The gallery’s generous wall space, lofty ceiling, and clever lighting allow for displays of large-scale artworks, making it an ideal venue for shows. There are two main exhibition spaces, Robbe Art and Art Jahn. Extra panels can split up the gallery’s floor area, allowing for more intimate layouts. The wide expanse of space allows a varied range of artists, including regional, Asian, and international talents, the freedom to present monumental works, as it is intended to serve as a hub not only for the local art scene but also for art lovers from around the world.
Ides Contemporary Art will host a series of events throughout the year, beginning with its series of inaugural shows fittingly titled Celebration 1-5. In celebrating this new, vibrant, and dynamic space, the ICA promotes dia-logue and interaction between artists, collectors, and visitors. Budding and well-established art connoisseurs alike can marvel at the tastefully curated works on display. For those just beginning their collection, Ides Contemporary Art’s able staff can happily point them in the right direction.
Celebration 1 will feature a selection of artworks by almost forty emerging and established artists working in a va-riety of techniques and mediums, from contemporary paintings to urban dreamscapes. The Artist’s Reception starts promptly at 5:00 PM.
