Inspired by the industrial revolution, Steampunk art re-imagines found objects, especially machine parts from the Victorian-era, as works of art, thus transforming bits and pieces into something expressive and elegant. Starting as a literary genre in the 1980s, steampunk has evolved over the years into an art movement that extends to fashion, music, movies, and art.
Art Show Philippines presents “Steampunk: The Retro Futuristic Show” to showcase a modern throwback to the Age of Steam through the works of 74 Filipino artists. This online exhibition of steampunk art is curated to delight the imagination and invoke the artists’ creative definition of what steampunk art means to them.
