Asian Bird Fair 2024: Spotlighting Manila Bay Conservation

Join the largest avitourism event in Asia, the Asian Bird Fair (ABF), where birdwatchers, wildlife photographers, and nature enthusiasts gather in the Philippines.

Under the theme “Wetlands We Treasure for the Future,” ABF 2024 will be hosted by the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP) on November 21 and 22, 2024 at The Tent in Las Piñas City.

This year, ABF aims to raise awareness about the importance of the endangered Las Piñas-Parañaque Wetland Park and Manila Bay to regional avian ecology. The event showcases the endemic Philippine Duck or Papan, symbolizing the need to protect the ecosystem destroyed by development and reclamation activities.

“We’re excited to welcome everyone—from avid birdwatchers to families and students—to learn more about Asia’s rich birdlife, the crucial role of wetlands, and conservation efforts from around the world,” according to WBCP president Mike Lu, one of the founders of the ABF. “Admission is free, and there will be activities for all ages, including exhibits, lectures and forums led by international conservation experts. It’s a unique chance to experience the beauty of birdwatching and to discover how we can all contribute to protecting these habitats for the future.”

Since its inception in 2010, ABF has grown into the first continental bird fair, uniting conservation organizations, ecotour operators, optics companies, and outdoor gear providers. The event offers exhibits, lectures, forums, and birding expeditions for two days.

ABF 2024 will emphasize environmental education for students of all ages and ecotourism forums to share best practices from around the world.

Representatives from all continents, including Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, North America, and South America, will participate in ABF 2024.

Over 66 organizations from 20 Asian countries and territories, as well as seven countries outside Asia, will showcase their exhibits.

We extend our gratitude to the Villar Foundation, Team Energy Foundation, Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region, Haring Ibon, Asean Centre for Biodiversity, Tourism Promotions Board, R.O.X., Optisan Optics, Ecotourism Taiwan and the Center for Conservation Innovations for their support in making ABF 2024 possible.

Don’t miss this extraordinary event promoting bird conservation, habitat protection, and responsible appreciation of nature. Join us at ABF 2024 as we shine a spotlight on Manila Bay conservation.
