Mounting his first solo exhibition at Galerie Joaquin Podium, Abra Pingol presents Ligaya—a collection of larger-than-life paintings that depict a Filipino way of life where simplicity and sublimity intertwine.
Rendered in harmonious scenes that are equal parts vibrant, playful, and tender, Abra’s works spotlight the everyday joys that define the Filipino spirit. From scenes of children immersed in sports and play to family outings aboard colorful jeepneys, Ligaya encapsulates lasting moments of delight, nostalgia, and kinship.
Pingol’s paintings evoke warmth and innocence—tennis matches, horseback rides, and leisurely rounds of golf are drawn from cherished memories and cultural tradition, transformed into timeless scenes of wonder.
Even the most mundane gestures are elevated into poetic vignettes. With rounded forms, saturated hues, and dreamlike compositions, the artist turns the familiar into the extraordinary, inviting viewers to see joy not as a spectacle, but as an enduring state of being.
More than a series of charming tableaux, Ligaya is a heartfelt affirmation: that true happiness is not found in grandeur, but in the simple, shared moments we often overlook.
Abraham Pingol is a visual artist from Valenzuela City. Continuing the legacy of his father, renowned Filipino painter Aljo Pingol, Abraham’s art style is rooted in the same rich visual tradition, yet forging a path of his own.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Advertising Arts from the University of Santo Tomas, where he developed a strong foundation in visual storytelling, composition, and design. His works are characterized by playful forms, vivid palettes, and a deep affection for local culture.
