When Love Is Sung

The Philippine Opera Company, in partnership with the Friends of Philippine Opera Foundation, proudly announces the launch of the Young Artists Concert Series 2026, with this year’s theme, “New Voices, Shared Stage.” The series continues its mission to nurture emerging Filipino classical singers by providing a professional platform grounded in community, collaboration, and opportunity. The concert series champions the belief that artistic growth flourishes in a shared space-where young performers learn from one another, collaborate meaningfully, and engage audiences through authentic musical storytelling.

Opening the 2026 season is “When Love Is Sung”, a concert that explores the many emotions and dimensions of love through music. Starring soprano Daniella Silab and baritenor Juan Diego Alcudia, with collaborating artist Samuel Silvestre on the piano, the concert takes audiences on a musical journey reflecting love in all its forms-from the exhilaration of new beginnings and the comfort of treasured memories, to the pain of heartbreak and the strength found in healing. Each song represents an emotional chapter familiar to anyone who has experienced love, allowing the program to resonate on both a personal and universal level.

More than a traditional concert, “When Love Is Sung” is conceived as an immersive experience where music becomes the language of the heart. Through expressive performances and thoughtfully curated repertoire, the artists invite audiences to reconnect with their own memories and emotions, reminding us that when words fall short, love finds its voice through song. The concert is designed not only to entertain, but to create an emotional connection between performer and listener, transforming the evening into a shared reflection on love, loss, hope, and renewal.

As the opening concert of the Young Artists Concert Series 2026, When Love Is Sung sets the tone for a season that celebrates shared artistry and the promise of new voices shaping the future of opera and classical music in the Philippines.

The concert will take place on February 21, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Opera Haus, located at 3657 Bautista Street, Palanan, Makati.

The Young Artists Concert Series 2026 reaffirms the Philippine Opera Company’s commitment to cultivating young talent while keeping classical music vibrant, relevant, and deeply human-one shared stage at a time.
