18th Philippine Jewelry Design Competition Now Open

The Meycauayan Jewelry Industry Association, Inc. (MJIA) organizer of Philippine Jewelry design Competition is now open.

 

 

The competition is one of the major projects of MJIA and is conducted and funded by Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc. (Philexport), Provincial Government of Bulacan and the Municipality of Meycauayan, Bulacan.

With the conduct of the PFJDC,  MJIA and its partners, continue to meet  the following objectives of this competition which are to promote the excellence in design and craftsmanship of Philippine jewelry; to promote utilization of indigenous materials as component or in combination with other materials for fine jewelry; to tap and seek the cooperation of the jewelry manufacturers in developing the advancement of the design profession that will benefit the industry; to create consumer awareness and interest in purchasing locally made jewelry; to create innovative quality jewelry that will suit the taste of the local and international markets; to provide an opportunity for recognizing the student’s talent and creativeness in the development of new design concepts for the fine jewelry industry; and to organize and train a pool of designers.

The competition’s following design categories are  open to students in design and design-related courses, professionals and non-professionals. MJIA members used to rely mainly on imported catalogues for  designs of their products. Now, the PFJDC has resulted in excellence in design, create existing, innovative quality jewelry, and utilization of indigenous materials. MJIA members have also shown their unity and cooperation by manufacturing the prototypes. The number of entries has increased yearly, the designs have improved, and created consumer awareness and interest in purchasing locally made jewelry. It has boost sales of members, and buyers are now looking at Philippine- made products as potential source of fine jewelry because they have seen the beautiful designs that our designers have made.

The PFJDC  started in year 2000 and is in its 18th year now. The PFJDC is the longest running design competition in the Philippines and the secret is the continued  agreements with Philexport c/o Trustee Luis Sicat, Bulacan Provincial Government c/o Gov. Willie Alavarado and Meycauayan Municipal Government  c/o Mayor Henry Villarica plus cooperation and strong commitment of the members of MJIA.
