1111 (b. 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist and self-professed polymath marked for her work involving the practice of “harvesting shadows” from objects in nature. Rendered mainly using graphite, the shapes and forms of the shadows are captured, outlined and shaded in. The resulting piece –usually an abstraction– is a kind of alchemy turning the dark shadows into something beautiful. 1111 has a profound love of nature and beauty, as is evident from her regular choice of subjects. Themes of her work range from everyday realizations about life, existentialism, and spirituality. When she’s not making art or creating pottery and poetic plant arrangements for her brand “O”, she delights in dancing, knitting, cooking, and poetry.
