Here are our Special Guests for this coming November 15th, for the 10th Annual Philippine Komiks Convention, International Comic Book Superstar, Stephen Segovia, artist of Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Valiant Comics, with Local Independent Komiks Megastar, Melvin Calingo aka Taga-Ilog, creator of Pasig, and co creator of Kubori Kikiam and Kanto Inc. Catch them at the Bayanihan Center, Unilab Compound, Pasig City for their latest works!
This November 15, Komikon is proud to present two Free Film Documentaries screenings!
“Illustrated By” by Pepper Marcelo: Superman, Batman, Spider-Man, The X-Men – characters recognized all over the world. What may not be known is that, since the 1970’s, Filipinos have had a significant contribution in these and other characters’ mythologies. “Illustrated By”: Filipino Invasion of U.S. Comics is a full-length documentary film tracing the phenomenon of Filipino comic artists breaking into the U.S. mainstream. The movie aims to pay tribute to many of these ignored, unacknowledged talents, and showcase their gorgeous artwork.

“Komikero Chronicles” by Keith Sicat: Charting komiks’ development from Rizal, through Tony Velasquez and “Kenkoy”, National Artist Francisco V. Coching’s formidable body of work, and the popular creations of Mars Ravelo and Carlo J. Caparas, KOMIKERO CHRONICLES examines the highly political ideas that thread through these various stories and styles, recognizing
the wit and vanguard thinking of many of these artists, discovering the breadth of their influence stretches all the way to U.S. shores and back.
