It was never too late for visual artist, polymath, naturalist, mentor, filmmaker, and environmentalist Bon Labora to take on and pursue the ideals and plans the late archivist Teddy Co had left off particularly in preservation of the Filipino film culture.
In a rousing clamor of the audience at Sine Pop, a micro cinema in Cubao, during the launch Friday night of the Philippine Filmography Archive, a digital repository of Philippine cinema, Labora got the trust and support of the leaders of the local movie industry.
“This is all for the glory of Teddy Co,” he beamed as he raised the original blueprint of the project.
“Teddy had been telling me about filmography archives of Philippine cinema since the dawn of the Philippine movie industry in 1919,” Bon added.
“That is why it is my privilege to carry on the dream of Teddy about preservation of information about the history of Philippine films,” explained the proponent.

“I would like to thank the Quezon City International Film Festival and Liza Dino-Seguerra of the Quezon City Film Commission for including the launch of this dream project of Teddy Co,” reiterated Labora.
According to Bon, last week’s event might just be a soft launch but it gave sufficient ideas to the movie people and the public that the legacy of Teddy is alive and relevant.
“The public now has a comprehensive source of info about Philippine cinema at their beck and call for free,” informed Labora who is both feature and documentary filmmaker.
The Philippine Filmography Archive or FILMPH has assorted materials from titles, productions, directors, writers, stars, technical people and other pertinent details about them.
“The public can visit FILMPH website and Facebook for more information,” assured Labora.
