Sorok Uni Foundation, Inc. is a humanitarian organization that started to work for persons affected with leprosy (PALs), but has extended its services to social and economic inclusion of other forgotten neighbors – the homeless urban and rural poor, and the displaced families due to calamities.

As part of our endeavor, Sorok Uni launched our first ever film-making event, the Sorok Short Film Festival Philippines (SSFF) 2014. This event was organized to raise social awareness and served as a mode for students, amateur and professional filmmakers, actors and scriptwriters to exhibit their gifts, with its theme “Kapwang Gawa – the act of reaching out to other people.”

The awarding was held at at iAcademy Makati on October 25, 2014 with Hon. Risa Hontiveros as our Guest Speaker. Our winning entry is entitled “Limang Taon ni Lola”, submitted and directed by Ms. Martika Ramirez Escobar of University of the Philippines Film Institute.

This year, Sorok Uni launched the 2nd SSFF with the theme “TUBIG NG BUHAY”. This project intends to continue empowering the foundation’s cause through multimedia while achieving its goal to help our forgotten neighbors. Prizes at stake are all tax-free!
Film Fest Entry Forms and Guidelines are downloadable on our websites at www.sorokuni.org and www.sorokuni.org/ssff; and on our Facebook pages, www.fb.com/sorokunifoundation and www.fb.com/sorokshortfilmfest.

This event will only be made possible with the help of our generous sponsors and media partners, namely ClickTheCity.com, WhenInManila.com, IT Corea, Coreon Gate, and PLDT Alpha Enterprise.
