6th Malikhaing Guro International Conference on Culture-based Education

Attention! Teachers, artists, and cultural workers:

The 6^th Malikhaing Guro International Conference on Culture-based Education is fast approaching!

Taking place on September 12-14, 2019 in the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the conference will be a gathering of cultural educators, pedagogues, cultural workers, and arts practitioners across nations to surface their various practices, emerging perspective, and challenges to the different modalities and contexts of education anchored on culture.

With this year’s theme, “Cultural Education: Bridging School and Community for Empowered Citizenry”, paper presentations are expected to demonstrate reflections, conceptualization, or arguments on the following topics:

1. Case studies on school and community partnerships with focus on models of good practice, e.g. school governing council, and other forms of school-based community management projects
2. Concept papers on school-community partnership using cultural education as platform
3. Syntheses of experiences on Alternative Learning System (ALS) that highlight approaches of community engagement in the program
4. Dynamics and challenges in inter- and cross- cultural exchanges in culturally diverse community
5. Innovative approaches, programs on cultural education in schools and community engaged by teachers and other cultural workers
