Alab Pagarigan

Based in Antipolo City, Alab Pagarigan takes advantage of the malleability of brass and copper wire to twist, twirl, and form life-sized individuals that he then reinforces with marine epoxy, posing them doing mundane tasks and often setting them in easily recognizable objects and even furniture. For Manila’Bang, the artist shows his competitive side as he presents works hugely inspired by athletes and human performance despite pressure. As he does so, he invites his viewers to hold their collective breaths in awe as they witness the intricacies within his works. A product of both the Philippine High School for the Arts and the UP College of Fine Arts, Pagarigan’s early resistance to creating wallbound paintings has resulted into the advantaged gratefulness of sculpture lovers everywhere.
