Ang Huling El Bimbo

ANG HULING EL BIMBO Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00pm Next Week · 87°F / 74°F Thunderstorm Show Map The Metro Gallery 455 P. Guevarra Street, Addition Hills, 1500 San Juan del Monte Joining show after show Evangelista's work continues to evolve as he turns out piece by piece. Enamoured with birdcages and their innate versatility, he found himself identifying with the various themes he painted around it and from what started as a small experiment began to turn into something he took pride in. His first solo show entitled Ang Huling el Bimbo, Adrian debuts the birdcage, at the same time bids it farewell, a temporary goodbye to make their future reuniting sweeter; with paper boats and planes symbolising his journey as a struggling painter, attempting to create his own small place in the contemporary art world. While other paintings merely suggest; the glass cases deliberately leads the viewer to its meaning. In a moment of honesty, Adrian, through the glass reflection behind a facade, shows us what he holds closest. This could be in some ways a more literal translation of the birdcage. The show begins as nothing more than a collection of paintings but turns into a culmination of his search for his own voice as an emerging painter, a glimpse into his travels and experiences that led to where he is today.
