Like the exhibition title implies, Away We Go is about escape, both for the artist and the viewer. “I view art as a get away from the (earthly) burdens of life, and finding tranquility within ourselves. That’s the way I would like people to see my art, because in my interpretation, art is free and fleeting; it is unburdened and detached from the plights of the world we all live in,” Edwin Martinez said. 2020 has been a year of monotony for those of us who are lucky enough to work from home. Martinez believes that it is a necessity to take a break and look at the world from a distance and isolating the beauty of isolation while doing so.
