EDITION: FEMINISM is a collection that idealizes a feminist revolution that considers the Filipino people. It presents works from the newly released 365 Wonders and from major contributors of the Woman, Create community. Through an all-women line up of debuting artists, the tales of familiar women issues are engaged within a feminist lens, intentionally positioning the Filipino individual in varying representations from the comical to the surreal.

This show invites the community to a feminism that is transformative in its aim to reshape our current world views. It calls attention to our role in hoping for and building a progressive nation that moves to challenge dominating patriarchal systems, while empowering communities beyond our comfort zones. By including works from students of Young Focus Philippines, a new world of possibilities can be glimpsed by insisting a feminist politic that adheres to mutuality, justice, and freedom as a foundation that considers the Filipino across gender, class, and race. Feminism is relevant to the Filipino.

The proceeds of this exhibition go to Young Focus Philippines, a non-profit organization that aims to provide education from preschool to college for the kids from the Smokey Mountain area in Tondo, Manila.

WOMAN, CREATE ARTIST/COLLECTIVE INFO

Woman, Create is a Philippine based art studio that aims to spark feminist consciousness through art and be a platform of empowerment for women and women artists. Notable initiatives include #LetsMakeBeautifulThings (2016), a mental health awareness campaign, HeforShe.org Action Plan (2017) and The Feminist Book Club (2017).

365 Wonders is an independently produced creative yearly planner that aims to promote an inclusive Filipino art, now on its 4th year running.
