Ends of Contracts: Artists Unite Against Contractualization

#EndEndo is an art initiative that aims to spark and deepen awareness among artists, art students, and art advocates regarding labor issues. It is a multi-faceted project that efforts to encourage creative responses as expressions of solidarity with the working class.
Despite the lack of substantial mainstream media coverage, the NutriAsia workers’ strike has successfully resonated in the public consciousness after the second violent dispersal of their picketline on July 30, 2018. The workers’ persistence in pursuing their rights has gained public support by the popularity of the call to #BoycottNutriAsia.
Among those who have pledged support are artists, writers, and various creators who have shared a variety of individual expressions of their solidarity, whether through paintings, drawings, poetry, calligraphy, or even as simple as posting photographs of them clearing their kitchens of NutriAsia products.
The time is ripe to harness this energy into a systematic and continuous endeavor to deepen our understanding of labor issues, especially for young people who have little access to information of this kind. The NutriAsia strike is just the tip of the iceberg; all over the country, workers in various industries, from manufacturing to business process outsourcing, are facing various kinds of issues, from wage to harassment and discrimination.
#EndEndo is an art project that will consolidate various artists and advocates in order to strengthen their solidarity and commitment to advance workers’ welfare, and stop the various attacks on the people’s rights.
  1. Consolidate: Gather various creative individuals and organizations who are interested in making a stand for workers’ rights; and compile artworks and other creative output in relation to labor struggles;
  2. Initiate: Help generate even more creative output by providing spaces and opportunities for interaction, discussion, and production;
  3. Promote: Present and disseminate the works and initiatives for larger public appreciation and participation.
