“Filipino New Cinema” Expands to 8 Film Slots

The World Premieres Film Festival Philippines will feature a new section, namely, the “Filipino New Cinema” in its 2015 edition. The section will showcase the latest from contemporary Filipino filmmakers looking to premiere their newest films before an international audience here in the Philippines. This provides the festival with a section highlighting films from the Philippines, being the festival’s host country.

The “Filipino New Cinema” will have a maximum of eight films screened as part of its section during the festival. The eight films will compete for top awards, prizes and incentives specific to the section. The Filipino New Cinema section awards will include Best Picture (1st and 2nd place), Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Musical Score, Best Sound Engineering, Best Production Design, and Best Performance by an Actor, Best Performance by an Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. Prizes and incentives will be in the form of film grants of varying amounts.

The World Premieres Film Festival Philippines will take place from June 24 to July 7, 2015 in Manila.


Note:

The Filipino New Cinema, a section of the 2nd World Premieres Film Festival – Philippines, produced by FDCP (Film Development Council of the Philippines) is looking for eight (8) FINISHED FULL LENGTH FILMS (produced in 2014 to the present). The festival will on June 24-July 7, 2015. Films will be shown in SM cinemas (2-3 screenings w/ premieres) and will compete for Top 2 placers to win grants & trophies. Plus awards for other categories. Interested parties may submit their film’s DVD screener and filled up entry form from the festival’s website — www.wpff.ph, under the Section FILIPINO NEW CINEMA.

Deadline of submission of entries is on May 6, Wed. at the Makati office of FDCP!
