Galleria Duemila opens “Chaos: the chaos that embeds passions, urges, and compulsions that complete the whole” by Viviana Riccelli

PASAY CITY, March 2, 2024 — Galleria Duemila celebrates International Women’s month with one of our empowered women, Viviana Riccelli, and her exhibition “Chaos: the chaos that embeds passions, urges, and compulsions that complete the whole.” The exhibition is on view from March 2 through April 13, 2024, at 210 Loring Street 1300 Pasay City, Metro Manila, inviting the viewer to be absorbed in a magic spell immersed in a space within unreal images.

Viviana studied in Rome, Berlin, Venice, and Cairo, where she developed her aesthetic sensibilities by immersing herself in various cultures and communities, including projects with refugees and HIV/AIDS policies in Africa. Having traveled and lived in numerous countries across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, Viviana engaged with local art as a pioneer. This has broadened her artistic perception and knowledge, as she carries the cultural, intellectual, and emotional experiences that have enriched her artistic journey.

Viviana carries a strong background in drawing as seen in her intricate melange of curved strokes. In her first solo exhibit at Galleria Duemila entitled From the Sea to the Sky in Siquijor (2017), the artist visualized her locality in a surreal frame of mind. Her apprenticeship under the abstract expressionist Nicolas Carone signaled a turning point in her development as a painter. She would learn from him to forget conventional images and break the space into organic forms.

The exhibition is accompanied by e-catalogue featuring exhibition notes written by Sandra Palomar, exploring how Viviana discovered the new experience of abstraction, people, and the land that came to her.
