Every month is women’s/womxn’s month. In the wake of the increasingly visible anti-Asian violence, with one of the most recent taking the lives of Hyun Jung Kim (Grant), Yong A. Yue, Suncha Kim, Soon Chung Park, Xiaojie Tan, Daoyou Feng, Delaina Ashley Yaun, and Paul Andre Michels, we humbly offer this work in their remembrance and in honor of those like them. Especially in a place like the Philippines, where our women continue to endure misogyny, transphobia, rape culture, colorism, and the like, we hope that every Pilipina (whether cis- or transgender) will feel seen and affirmed in this piece. We offer this “hip-hop kundiman” in advocating: May iba’t ibang itsura ng ganda at lahat ay maganda. Beauty has many different looks, and they are all beautiful.
