From the Queen City of the south Cebu, Soika Vomiter does not paint portraits in the traditional sense. Representing actual people in their unnatural form, these anonymous, decapitated faces embody the countless emotions and states of being the artist has come across through his extensive travelling around and outside the Philippines.
Fascinated with memory, Marikina native, Teo Esguerra replicates the process by creating a constant dialogue between painting and photography. Whilst Esguerra’s photography acts as a tangible imprint of an event, his painterly intrusions function as subconscious feelings one might unknowingly ascribe to a certain occurrence.
