Independent publishing house HS Grafik Print and its imprint, PaperKat Books, will hold its first creative writing festival titled You Should Be Writing at Estancia Capitol Commons in Pasig City, Metro Manila, on November 4. This free event will showcase talks about creative writing and how independent publishing works, especially for aspiring writers who want their fiction and non-fiction works to get published. There will also be a side-by-side book launching of new titles from PaperKat Books authors.

PaperKat Books’ Head of Publishing, Kath C. Eustaquio-Derla in a statement, said that she hopes that this event will catapult a greater “writing movement,” which all started at the very heart of a commercial complex, Estancia Capitol Commons.

“Since Estancia at Capitol Commons opened, a lot of arts and lifestyle-related events, including painting exhibitions, music, and fashion, have been held here. There are also many areas at the mall where you can sit down and write, and they’re all free. The location and the vibe are perfect for people who want to write away from home,” Eustaquio-Derla said.

Meanwhile, four writing and publishing experts will join the panel at the “Let’s Talk About Book Publishing” roundtable discussion, which is one of the highlights of the said event.

Ms. Gwenn Jessica Galvez, bookstore manager of TAMS Bookstore of Far Eastern University (FEU) Publications, will talk about book marketing while FEU Publications’ Manager, Ms. Lance Espinosa-Caperal will discuss about traditional publishing. Meanwhile, Eustaquio-Derla will also join the panel to explore the topic of hybrid publishing. On the other hand, publishing consultant and editor Ms. Gin Estabron will delve into the process of book editing and production.

Furthermore, PaperKat Books authors will share their stories about their writing and publishing journey in the event.
