About the Contest

Vision Petron is a competition for painters, photographers, designers, and filmmakers. Open to all Filipino college students and students of a tutorial for painting, photography, t-shirt art design, or video-making class. Age limit is 16-28 years old only.

 

CATEGORIES

All entries must be based on the theme.

 

PAINTING

a. WATERCOLOR / WATER-BASED MEDIA

  • Surface to be used is either watercolor paper or illustration board
  • Artwork must not be more than 48 x 48 inches (unframed).

b. OIL /ACRYLIC

  • Surface to be used is either in canvas, canvas paper or wood.
  • Artwork must not be more than 48 x 48 inches (unframed).

 

COLORED PHOTOGRAPHY

  • The size of the photograph must not be smaller than 8 in. x 10 in. and must not exceed 10 in. x 15 in. (unframed).
  • All entries must be original and must have been photographed after June 15, 2015. They must not have been previously exhibited or awarded a prize in another contest, corrected, or manipulated in any post production activity. Entrants must declare the type of camera used. Filters may be used.

 

T-SHIRT ART DESIGN

  • Use of two-dimensional (2D) techniques (silkscreen printing, handpainting, or tie dye) is only allowed for the execution of design. Entries with three-dimensional (3D) applications will automatically be disqualified.
  • Entries must be executed only on the front portion of a white shirt (round neck and short sleeves).
  • For graphic design entries, only JPEG images in RGB format (and NOT CMYK) will be accepted. All images must be high-resolution vector images. Graphic files must be given in a CD (when applicable) with the actual shirt submission.
  • The design must be your own original unpublished work and must not contain any third-party logos, trademarks, image of Philippine flag or copyright material. Plagiarized designs are automatically disqualified.

 

VIDEO-MAKING

  • Open to individual students or group (max of 3), wherein the team leader will list the names of the team members on their role in the production.
  • We encourage students to be original and creative in their entries, yet informative. The video can be staged as short play, commercial, news broadcast, talk show, music video, documentary, etc. Videos must evolve around positive values related to the theme.
  • Videos are limited to a maximum of 3-5 minutes and must have been solely edited by the individual or group. A team can produce/enter only one video. In addition, the students producing a video must all be from the same school.
  • Submission must be in CD with name and title of entry. Petron is not responsible if the CD will not play during screening.
  • No professional assistance can be provided to produce this video in any manner.
  • We encourage the student to use of original scoring or royalty-free music to avoid any copyright infringements.
  • Students should acknowledge any use of lyrics, music, video clips, quotes etc. from another source such as song, movie, TV show, book, etc., in the credits at the end of the video.
  • Although we promote the use of Filipino in the video, we are open to any indigenous dialect although it should be subtitled in Filipino for general understanding.
  • Students are responsible to provide their own equipment (in most cases, to borrow the schools’ equipment in their personal capacity) to produce this video. They should handle permits and other related matter. Also students will be responsible for all waivers for all talents they will use and permits in the locations they will be shooting in. Petron Corporation is not liable for any untoward incident or legal dispute that may result from the production of video.
  • All videos must not have been shown in any medium or any online site. Video resolution must either be 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 and must be in wmv, mpeg or mp4 format.
  • The information, facts and figures that appear in the video must be researched by the students and a source reference sheet must be submitted with the video citing all sources from which the team found their information on the theme.
  • If a student plans to appear in the video and is under the age of 18, a parent/guardian is required to submit a video permission letter. All permission letters must be sent in with the entry. Students who are under the age of 18 and do not appear in the video, but are part of the team, are not required to have this form completed.
  • All videos must have been produced after June 15, 2015. Non-disclosure of sources could result in disqualification. Petron Corporation will retain ownership of all copies submitted. It is the entrants’ responsibility to keep the original copy of the work. All submitted video entries will no longer be returned.
  • All winning videos will be an added feature in the Petron 2016 Wall Calendar through a QR code.

 

Terms and Condition

By indicating your acceptance, you understand, agree, warrant and covenant as follows:

  1. Open to all Filipino college students and students of a tutorial class. Age is limited to 16-28 years old only.
  2. Participants can only submit an original and exclusive creation, one entry per category for Painting and Video-making. Participants can submit unlimited number of entries for the Photography and T-Shirt Art Design Category.
  3. Petron Corporation is authorized to sell and negotiate for the best price of all submitted artworks indicated for sale. Only after the exhibition can non-winning artworks be retrieved by the artist/photographers or his/her authorized representative from the authorized venue (to be announced). Artworks not retrieved after November 30, 2015 will become the property of Petron Corporation. As regards to those picking up artworks at the bulk plants, a written document is needed to formalize the request. All letters must be postmarked between October 1 to November 30, 2015. A no-request, no pick up policy will be strictly implemented
  4. All winning artworks/photographs/t-shirts/videos will become the property of Petron Corporation and may be used by Petron Corporation for any and all legal purposes, which includes but not limited to mass production for corporate giveaways or shown in any Petron corporate event.
  5. Two-time Grand Prize winners of previous Petron Student Art Competitions are disqualified from joining.
  6. Employees of Petron Corporation and Studio 5 Designs, Inc., including their relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity and/or affinity are disqualified from joining the contest.
  7. All decisions of the Board of Judges shall be final and cannot be appealed.
  8. Petron Corporation reserves the right to take legal action against participants whose entries are plagiarized (whether in part or in full) and are not their original work. Schools of these erring participants will be immediately informed.
