Lola Doc

PangsamanTanghalan

Tanghalang Pilipino, the resident theater company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, has adapted new means to create platforms for their artistic endeavors at a time when mass gatherings are restricted. PangsamanTanghalan, Tanghalang Pilipino’s online Youtube channel, was made to provide their audience with an alternative space for their shows while still under quarantine. PangsamanTanghalan is proving itself successful so far and is moving towards their intended goal for this campaign.

They want their content made available for their audience to enjoy and they initiated this by producing and publishing their first monovlog series. Lolo Doc, a monovlog written by Layeta Bucoy, encapsulates the situation our pandemic frontliners face at the moment through the eyes of an ageing doctor. Lolo Doc was played by none other than our very own artistic director, Fernando “Nanding” Josef. They see the attention our Lolo Doc has gathered as an indicator of PangsamanTanghalan’s potential.

They now see this potential currently setting future projects in motion. This has resulted to a collaboration between their organization and one of Philippine cinema’s greatest performers. Lola Doc, the much-awaited sequel to Lolo Doc, will be portrayed by Nora Aunor, inarguably the brightest star that Philippine showbiz has seen. Lola Doc will be followed by more performances to be announced in the near future.

The pandemic has limited our means but certainly not our creative spirit. They want their audience to know that they are still here to keep theater thriving even under quarantine. By helping them through your channels, word of PangsamanTanghalan will reach more people. Your support will help them carry their mission to make an efficient platform for theater during these trying times.
