NATURE NURTURE is a duo exhibition of Filipino visual artists, Nida Cranbourne and Joy Rojas. It will be on view from 3 to 16 August 2022 at the ArtistSpace located at Ground Level, Ayala Museum Annex, Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street, Greenbelt Park, Makati City.

Lasting friendships, enduring throughout earthly life, have been forged in the smithy of Art: a common love for painting. Admirably, the present artists of The Saturday Group are role models for camaraderie and fellowship. As such, members Nida Cranbourne and Joy Rojas shall collaborate on an exhibition that will showcase nature as its very best. Nida will once again display her art expertise in flowers while Joy will execute his abstract art, this time portraying nature. The theme will tackle climate change, flora, fauna, and landscapes, expressed in two distinct art styles but converging as one—nourishing nature at its very best.

About the Artists

Armed with a college degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines, and a master’s degree in Communication Arts from New York University, little did Nida Cranbourne imagine she will end up being an artist. She married a professional photographer, Raymond Richard Cranbourne, and resided in Hongkong for 40 years, where they setup the Focal Point Gallery and Studio. In spite of the business degrees, she has always had a fascination for art. Her family owned and managed an art gallery in a hotel in Manila, mounting various exhibitions every month. Her artistic aspirations were realized upon joining The Saturday Group of Artists. She saw the opportunity as a challenge, and a learning experience.

Atty. Jose Fernando M. Rojas II or better known as Joy Rojas is an art collector and a self-taught artist. His desire is to become a visual artist, started at a young age when he started drawing and sketching horses at the racetrack. Today, it has evolved into abstractionism. He uses mixed media (acrylic, archival ink, silk screening, and found materials) as his medium to express his freedom of expression and thought.
