Rebo Press to Launch MARKA Zine, Highlights Voices of Hope and Dissent

Rebo Press Book Publishing, a Pampanga-based independent press, has recently completed its final selection of texts for its first collaborative zine of the year, MARKA. Inspired by the grassroots movements of different groups across the nation and in cyberspace, MARKA aims to inspire change and bring a better perspective of politics and the coming elections through prose, poetry, music, and art.

The zine will be launched physically at the Robredo-Pangilinan People’s Rally at Robinson Starmills in San Fernando, Pampanga on April 9, 2022. Physical copies of the MARKA zine will be given away for free during the event, as well as other small indie press tokens like stickers.

Rebo Press and Vox Populi PH authors will be present in the event to help support the call for change and the Robredo-Pangilinan tandem, as well as bring forward the presence of the independent press and the remarkable creatives who made the zine possible.

MARKA contains remarkable works of prose and poetry, all teeming with life and seething with the righteous demands for justice and accountability in increasingly dark and unpredictable times.

MARKA includes creative works from a total of 20 artists, creators, and authors: Marius D. Carlos, Jr., Jay-ar G. Paloma, Marren Araña Adan, Aidan Reuel Bernales, Hannah Paguila, Ace Bagtas, Mary France Albaño, Matthew Cedrick Nueva, Gian Carlos Nobleza, Ronald Tumbaga, Mhardz Guivarra, Michelle Erbito, Dennis Andrew Aguinaldo, John Ruel Manalo, Ara Marie Bayhon, Angelo B. Ancheta, A.V. Blurete, Joshua S. Gumapos, Em N. Cee, Christine Marie Lim Magpile and from Alyka Alexandra B. Santiago. The collection’s editor is Rebo Press’s founder and MARKA organizer, Maria Kristelle Jimenez.
