Richard Tuason explores the balance between hope and despair that exists in life and death. The concept of his latest solo exhibit comes from the idea of dying in order to live, like a seed that needs to rot to sprout a new life.

Nothing provokes the artistic sensibility like grief and longing. For Tuason, events like his father’s departure brings about a convergence of emotions and an individual’s determination to unearth, reveal, understand, and accept if not outlast them.

In grief is a multitide of human suffering: the reactive sense that brings rage and outrage, the indirect settling in of pain and sadness; the concentric waves of agony that continue through time. All of these have been elicited through Richard Tuason’s “The End is just the Beginning”.

His exploration of objects goes beyond just a visual intrigue; they ignite an emotional response as well. Tuason finds it necessary to have an intimate engagement to various elements, so textures and uniquely prepared surfaces play an important role in his work. The objects incorporated in his works serves as autobiographical narratives and life metaphors to the artist.

The show is about raising questions, expressing ambitions, personal explorations and experimentation from static elements. It is also the act of bringing together the artist’s potential of reconstructing/deconstructing materials which deals with his memory; the narrative that awakened Richard Tuason’s consciousness and identity which became his obsession.
