The Saturday Group celebrates 55th year with 2 simultaneous shows

The Saturday Group marks its 55th anniversary with two simultaneous exhibits in Metro Manila; the first is happening until July 30, 30 at the Art Lounge Manila in The Podium Mall, Mandaluyong; while the second is ongoing until August 11, 2023 at Galerya Amalia in LRI Design Plaza, Makati City.

 

About the Exhibit

 

The Saturday Group of Artists is considered as one of the most distinguished organizations of visual artists in the Philippines. Founded in July 1968 in Ermita as a discussion group, it evolved into a network of colleagues that regularly meets for painting sessions, camaraderie and advocacy. The Saturday Group’s roster includes eight National Artists, namely HR Ocampo, Cesar Legaspi, Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Jose Joya, Vicente Manansala, Arturo Luz, BenCab and Ang Kiukok.

For the twin exhibits for the 55th anniversary, 35 Saturday group members are showcasing their works. President Roel Obemio leads the list with Amado “Ding” Hidalgo, Maryrose Gisbert, Salvador “Buddy” Ching, Nida Cranborne, Lydia Velasco, Daisy Carlos, Tessie Picaña, Angeliko “Jik” Villanueva, Eman Santos, Ysa Gernale, Aner Sebastian, Anna De Leon, Gene Artango Villasper, Omi Reyes, Buds Convocar, Helena Alegre, Robert Deniega, Joseph Villamar, Chewy Yap, Inna Naanep-Vitasa, Frank Caña, Magoo Valencia, Celeste Lecaroz, Migs Villanueva, Anthony Palo, Francis Nacio, Jonathan Dangue, Hermes Alegre, Melissa Yeung Yap, Sheila Tiangco, Joy Rojas, Carlo Ongchangco and Rudy Lunod.
