This month of April, as the summer gets hotter, chill out at UPFI Film Center – Cine Adarna with its newest offering of film screenings!

On April 1 to 6 and 20, celebrate the life and the contributions of film director and National Artist Lino Brocka that encompasses film, culture and the society! Catch his controversial yet well-crafted films that forever changed the film industry of the country.

 

 

On the third day of April, join UP Film Institute as it hosts the premiere of Nikko Andrew Arcega’s “Love; Life!”

As the action genre continues to wane in Philippine cinema, Erik Matti continues to make a bigger, bolder and modern approach with “On the Job,” “Buy Bust,” “Honor Thy Father” at the #CampusCinema.

 

 

UPFI will be showcasing international features for the month! In partnership with Instituto Cervantes de Manila and Embajada de España en Filipinas, UPFI joins the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the End of the Spanish Civil War with two film screenings: “La Colmena” (The Beehive) and “Pa Negre” (Black Bread). See documentaries about the endangered majestic Philippine Eagle by Eric Liner in “Bird of Prey,” the traumatic effect of nuclear warfare in Steven Okazaki’s “White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” and the collapse of a cult in Singapore in “Snakeskin” accompanied by a talk with the filmmaker, Daniel Hui in coordination with Los Otros. Moreover, watch several documentaries that take a close look at the state of our society with EJ Mijares’ “Entablado” & “Shapes of Crimson” along with GMA News TV special “1081” hosted by Kara David.

 

 

Mike de Leon has been one of the most progressive Filipino directors. Catch the digitally remastered version of his films “Bayaning 3rd World” and “Aliwan Paradise.”

Be in awe and celebrate strong women figures in Marilou Diaz-Abaya’s digitally restored and remastered classic “Karnal” and the film that bagged the Golden Lion in the 73rd Venice Film Festival, Lav Diaz’s “Ang Babaeng Humayo” along with another of his masterpiece, “Ang Panahon ng Halimaw.”

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts is set to hold a conference in UPFI on Cinema and Literature! Learn more about the Philippines’ vibrant history of cinema and literature.

Regional films now goes to UPFI with Binisaya sa UP Diliman! Watch the special screenings of film the lineups from April 27 (Sat) to the May 1 (Wed).
