Willie De Vera

 

A photographer by profession, Willie De Vera opted for early retirement after serving 28 years at Sycip, Gorres, Velayo & Co.’s Marketing and Communications Group, ending with a flourish as the department’s design head. He now spends his time on his personal design and photography projects for various clients, while participating in several photo/art exhibits on the side. Recent client projects include a technical photography market study for a French cosmetics company, a coffee-table book design for the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, a commissioned photo engagement for Henry Ng’s 100 Years book, a photo assignment for a fast-growing rural bank for a coffee-table book celebrating their 40th year, design and photography for a Quezon City coffee-table book, an art coffee-table book for the Portrait Artists Society of the Philippines, Inc. and an LGU coffee-table book for a city in Laguna. A busy shutterbug, our Willie de Vera, and he shows no sign of slowing down.

He is also a recipient of numerous awards, including the Anvil Award for the SGV Tax Calendar, the 2006 Photographer of the Year by the Pinoy Photography Organization, a 4-time winner of the Photographer of the Year award by the Zone V Camera Club, and various honors in other photography competitions.

De Vera has displayed his photographic obras in different art exhibits. A recent addition to his long list of accolades is that his Philippine Festivals large images are now on permanent display in the halls of the newly constructed UP College of Medicine building in Manila.
