Schedule of Activities

Fora

NOV 11-13 / 4PM-6PM @ PINEAPPLE LAB

These fora strive to map out and convene WSK and SABAW Media Art Kitchen’s local and international networks. Accumulated within the last decade of our practice, this network consists of artists, researchers, curators, organizers, hackers, and technologists working in unpopular and experimental music, the sonic arts, and media arts–those working in the intersections of culture and technology. In a series of directed discussions addressing practical and critical concerns inherent to these forms of practice, the fora aims to come out with more practical and critical tactics to help these initiatives not only survive, but also share, manage and distribute resources we collectively have.

Starts at 7PM with artists and engineers working on challenges of new media in Philippines contemporary art scene. Presented by art collectives Mvltiverse, Tito and Tita, Steam Projects, HERESY, and artists Derek Tumala, Tad Ermitaño, Cocoy Lumbao, and engineer and physicist Gladys Regalado.

Don’t miss this forum at 4PM! This panel is a meeting of key makers, hackers, engineers, and tinkerers, whose organizations facilitate makerspaces and play key roles in the maker community.

All new performance-installation by collective IDIOTERNE INC. This coming Thursday NOV 10, 7PM Pineapple Lab. FREE.

Idioterne Inc. is a small yet slowly expanding collective of musicians bound together by a mutual affinity for genres ranging from the alternative to the avant-garde, a platform that explores the tenuous connection of pop music to non-pop, focusing on unorthodox methods of expression, production, and performance.

AXIS OF PERCEPTION by STEAM/Projects

STEAM/Projects brings together a diverse group of artists with interdisciplinary backgrounds—an architect, a programmer, a motion designer, a citizen scientist, a machine maker, a game estate designer and a virtual reality landscape designer—exploring mostly through new technologies, the exhibition surveys the chaotic and almost whimsical landscape of progress and ruins that is Megalopolis Manila through the emerging trajectory of the intersection of art and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture and Mathematics). At the crux of this exhibition is an attempt to tease out the many tangled strands that branched out from plotting the historical past and the political present and collating them into a visionary playground of a subjective future.
Works by Clarissa Gonzalez, Derek Tumala, G/FK/DS, Ian Carlo Jaucian, Julius Redillas, Jose Tong, Manila Automat, Megan Palero, Miggy Inumerable, Richard Coronel

Special Guest: Joee & I

An interactive showcase of sound installations, electronic inventions and instruments made and used by key sound artists and instrument builders.

In this exhibition, we encourage strangers and strange people to interact with weird doohickey sound things created by even stranger people. They won’t explode, promise. Most are only 9 volts and feed on your soul. Warning: some artists might be present and they tend to talk a lot.
