Extended Deadline for Nominations and Beacon of Culture and Arts Awardees Unveiled for the 2nd Philippine LEAF Awards

The recently concluded press conference held last December 2, 2023, announced the significant updates for the upcoming “LEAF Tertulia at Parangal 2024.” The press conference, which took place at the Manila Clock Tower Museum in Manila, was a prelude to the much-anticipated 2nd edition of the Philippine LEAF Awards.

“The LEAF Tertulia at Parangal 2024 is not just any ordinary awards ceremony. It will celebrate the best in Philippine Culture and the Arts — Past, Present, Future. True Filipino Artists will be an integral part of this grand event,” emphasized LEAF Founder and Head Juror for Music, Frank G. Rivera. Rivera shared the stage with current LEAF President, esteemed TV and live events director, CJ Andaluz, who also serves as the Creative and Managing Director of Pixel Art Media Production Company.

The panel also comprised key figures in Filipino culture and arts, including Mr. Ibarra Mateo (Head Juror for Theater), Dr. Lordinio Vergara (Head Juror for Dance), LEAF’s Legal Counsel, Atty. Elba Cruz, and Ms. Riel Andaluz, Senior Manager for Corporate Partnerships of Save The Children Philippines.

During the press conference, it was announced that the deadline for the submission of nominations for the 2nd Philippine LEAF Awards has been extended until December 10, 2023. This extension allows for a broader participation of outstanding individuals and entities in the live entertainment, performing arts, fashion, and festivals categories.

Furthermore, the event introduced the recipients of the prestigious “Beacon for Culture and Arts Award.” The esteemed awardees include National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab, former NCCA Chairman and
CCP President Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso, Cong. Christopher “Toff” De Venecia, Halili-Cruz School of Dance Artistic and Creative Director Dr. Shirley Halili-Cruz, and Gov. Susan Yap of the Provincial Government of Tarlac. These individuals have demonstrated exemplary leadership and innovation through their
governance, advocacies, and programs, leaving a lasting impact on the culture and arts sector.

The Philippine LEAF Awards, dedicated to acknowledging integrity, creativity, and excellence in Philippine live entertainment, performing arts, fashion, and festivals, has chosen Save The Children Philippines as its beneficiary this year. A portion of the proceeds from sponsors will be donated to the said non-
government organization.

Pixel Art Media Production Company, this year’s presenter, is known for its innovative media productions that champion Filipino culture and arts. Under the leadership of CJ Andaluz, the company has consistently demonstrated a commitment to artistic excellence, aligning seamlessly with the core values of the Philippine LEAF Awards.

The LEAF TERTULIA AT PARANGAL is scheduled for February 8, 2024, with a red carpet event starting at 1 pm, at the iconic Manila Metropolitan Theater in Plaza Bonifacio (formerly Plaza Lawton).
