Student Art Open House

July 22-August 9, 2019

The Benilde Arts and Culture Cluster through the Design Foundation Department (DF) presents the Student Art Open House or Annuale exhibit slated on July 22-August 9, 2019. This year-end activity showcases works collected from participating students from Design Foundation classes and collaborations with the programs of Architecture and Photography.

This year’s theme is entitled “Myth Influx”, which is about contemporary myth making in society. We are not merely talking about mythology in the context of folk and traditional but contemporary constructions of signs in everyday life such as: social media, street art, community work etc. An influx of forms, contexts and meanings that build our perceptions of truths. Students have interpreted, re-interpreted, constructed, re-constructed, and deconstructed these truths in order to create their own myths.

Alongside this exhibit, “Myth Influx” would include collateral events that would engage the Benildean community from July 22-July 26, 2019. It would include a roundtable discussion, workshops, book launch with a human library, and a culminating program that will conclude the week’s celebration of art and culture.

Here are the following events:

“Myth Influx Exhibit”

“Nasan ang Mayon Volcano?” Myth Making in the Contemporary: Round Table Discussion

“Sinsin Workshop” by Folk Artist Paete and Pakil Laguna

“Books Come Alive!” by  Human Library

“Book Launch: CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art and Filipino Artists in Their Studies Vol. 2”
