This project aims to encourage thinking, writing, and reading about film, while offering immersion in the live atmosphere of an international film festival. Participants will receive guidance from professional film critics led by Chris Fujiwara and write their own articles, which will be presented publicly. Participants must come from Mindanao and the rest of the Philippines, Southeast Asia and Japan. REQUIREMENTS To apply, applicants -must be able to attend Salamindanaw 2016 from November 9 to 13; -must be able to write and engage in discussions in English (or Japanese for the participants from Japan); -must be willing to undergo rigorous training and regular writing in a limited time. Those chosen to participate will be notified individually towards the middle of October. The Workshop shall cover the transportation and accommodation of selected participants. WORKSHOP PROGRAM

Watching films at Salamindanaw 2016, participants will each write reviews and critiques. Mentors will provide personal supervision. A symposium will also be organized to discuss issues in Asian cinema.
