SIKUNA (see-ku-nuh) is a Collaborative Arts Festival where different art forms are celebrated altogether!
visual arts | literature | film | dance | music | architecture | theater
The festival provides a platform where both artists and audiences experience the collaborative spirit through performances, workshops, open jams, and many other activities.
While it aims to create an avenue where forms and genres merge, the Sikuna is the first festival of its kind in the Philippines.
SIKUNA 2017 is the culminating event of the 2nd official season of Para Sa Sining. Through this Collaborative Arts Festival, we celebrate another year of art and of life!
Marrying two words to give birth to the festival name, Sikuna aims to resemble a cradle—- protecting the traditional genres while being a birthplace for the contemporary.
The festival was launched in August 2015. It served as the opening festival of the first official season of Para Sa Sining. Having over 20 performances from around 150 artists and volunteers, it was a full day of collaborative performances, open jams, interactive performances, exhibitions, and an artisans’ fair.
This 2017, Sikuna will showcase more performances and activities in different venue spaces within the walls of the Baluarte de San Diego, Intramuros!
Sikuna is a fundraising project for Para Sa Sining’s upcoming projects such as the Hiraya Collaborative Arts Education Program to be facilitated in Sison, Pangasinan and Mt. Pulag, Benguet.
