The Japan Foundation, Manila Arts & Culture Grant Releases Open Call for 2022

The Japan Foundation, Manila is opening its call for proposals for the JFM Arts & Culture Grant for 2022. Across the areas of film, Japanese studies, literature, music, performing arts, and visual arts, the JFMAC Grant is looking to fund imaginative cultural initiatives that reinforce the solidarity between Japan and the Philippines.

Last year’s 20 grant recipients have successfully implemented programs that bridged the two cultures through different forms. These included diverse projects such as butoh dance workshops by Kapwa-Movement Project, A physical theater-film collaboration project entitled Wor(L)d of My Bodies by Black Canvas, intellectual exchange forums such as Salikhain Kolektib’s Resilience in Context forum, and virtual artist studio visits organized by Load Na Dito, to name a few.

Though most of last year’s programs have been held virtually, this year’s grant is now open to both on-line,  on-site, or even projects on hybrid platforms. Now that many restrictions are lifted and more face-to-face interactions are happening, the JFMAC Grant is looking forward to supporting programs with in-person participation.
