Wear Your Pride In Black Canvas’ The Rainbow Project

What’s your Pride? Calling queers and allies! Join The Rainbow Project, Virtual Pride Party, and celebrate with us!

In this time of isolation, Black Canvas creates a space to spotlight queer joy, victories, resilience, and empowerment among the LGBTQIA+ community. Wear your rainbows, join the fun, and enter a room full of drag performances, songs, messages, and a minute each to celebrate and answer, “What’s your Pride?”

“We all miss the party so we created a space to gather the community again to have fun, dance, sing, and celebrate each other’s identity. At least virtually but full of rainbows.” (Abner Delina, founder-artistic director of Black Canvas).

The Rainbow Project is an initiative of Black Canvas in partnership with LoveYourself, Spaces MNL, and Drag Academy PH. Featured Guests include drag queens MC Black and Mrs. Tan, filmmaker Pepe Diokno, Kiko Dacanay (LoveYourself), Riyan Portuguez (Your Millennial Psychologist), Vincent De Jesus (Caredivas, Zsazsa Zaturnnah), and more! The donations gathered from the event will be for the benefit of the Home for the Golden Gays.

Alam naman natin na during this pandemic na isa sa mga pinaka-apektado ay ang mga lola niyo… Kaya nagpapasalamat din kami sa lahat ng tumutulong.” (Ramon Busa, leader of The Golden Gays).

The Home for the Golden Gays is a non-profit organization established in the mid 1970’s by LGBT rights activist and columnist Justo Justo. He founded a care facility in Pasay for the elderly and homeless gays. At the time of his death in 2012, the facility was closed and the group was forced to move out. During this pandemic, our queer elders need your support for their health, food, and rental expenses.
