Walang Ibig Sabihin
|A Conversation with Nap Jamir II

We warmly invite everyone to Walang Ibig Sabihin: A Conversation with Nap Jamir II, happening on April 22, 2:00 PM at the Lobby of the UP Fine Arts Gallery.
Co-organized by the UP Fine Arts Gallery and Photography Chismis PH, this conversation seeks to explore the shifts in the photographic practice of Nap Jamir II, from the 1970s to the present and how these changes parallel broader developments in Philippine photography. The title is drawn from Walang Ibig Sabihin, a work from Jamir’s Foto-Me Series (1974), reflecting the conceptual/ist underpinning of his practice.
Moderated by Antonni Cuesta, the conversation highlights the evolution of his work and offers a reflective dialogue on its role within the context of the Philippine visual arts landscape over five decades. Through themes such as artistic production, curatorial motivations, and photography education, this discussion aims to provide a deeper understanding of how Jamir’s work mirrors the broader trends in both artistic and academic spaces in the Philippines.
